PROJECT

SPIRES

Development of an immersive, multi-sensory virtual platform for prototyping and simulation
CONCEPT

The SPIRES platform will provide a digital environment where designers can test and evaluate virtual prototypes of their product designs. Leveraging augmented reality headsets and haptic devices, the platform will offer an immersive experience that allows users to validate their creations.

The project’s added value lies in its multi-sensory dimension—visual, auditory, and tactile—enabling designers and artisans not only to “feel” digital prototypes but also to gather data and performance indicators useful for optimizing the production process during the design phase, eliminating the need for physical prototypes and mockups.

CONTEXT

SPIRES is part of the broader innovation efforts in industrial design technology. By developing an interactive, multi-sensory digital platform, SPIRES aims to provide industrial designers with a flexible and innovative tool for product prototyping.

This solution will help:

  • Reduce production times and costs
  • Minimize waste and resource use
  • Support sustainable and circular design practices

The project aligns with the goals of MICS (Made in Italy Circolare e Sostenibile), the Extended Partnership framework under which SPIRES is developed.
