CONCEPT

The project aims to explore the potential of the connection between sustainability and the valorization of territorial productions, by integrating sustainability into strategies for Made in Italy. It will develop digital technology-based solutions, such as IoT and Extended Reality (XR), to improve transparency, efficiency, and environmental impact along the production chain.

The project also involves local artisans and communities through participatory and co-design approaches, ensuring that the solutions are culturally relevant and territorially rooted. In addition to strengthening the value of local products, the project highlights the importance of storytelling and immersive communication to promote sustainable craftsmanship. XR technologies help tell the stories behind products, fostering emotional connections between consumers and producers, and enhancing both sustainability and craftsmanship quality.

CONTEXT

In recent years, territorial enterprise systems in Italy have faced major challenges such as intense international competition and high energy and labor costs. At the same time, there has been a renewed interest in traditional craftsmanship and regional identity.

This project responds to a broader transformation marked by increasing demand for high-quality, sustainable products that leverage local know-how. The integration of sustainability and digital technologies offers an innovative path to support the local economy, fostering practices that improve both environmental and social quality.

Key pillars of this new competitive and sustainable Made in Italy paradigm include:
