MICS Made in Italy Circular and Sustainable has officially opened two cascading calls for proposals worth a total of €18 million.
Three million euros are reserved for projects launched by research organizations and public and private universities, while fifteen million euros are for micro, small, medium and large enterprises.
The common goal of both calls for proposals is to develop basic research projects to make the clothing, furniture and automation-mechanics sectors more sustainable and circular.
These calls for proposals are the first to be presented to allocate the funds received from MICS: a total of €125 million (€114 million from PNRR funds and €11 million from private sources), the highest amount ever allocated to basic research projects in the field of circular and sustainable economy.
The projects to which the funds will be allocated will be selected by a commission that will evaluate several factors: the presence of women in the research team and the involvement of organizations from southern Italy will be rewarded. One of MICS goals is to allocate at least 40% of public funds to southern Italy, an area that has recently undergone significant technological and industrial development.
The calls for proposals will be officially presented on 23 January 2024 during the event organized by MICS entitled “The future is our partner” in Rome.
